Sandisk Usb Encryption – a Viable Solution for Government Employees

Rg Hannah asked:

After a non secure USB flash drive was lost with sensitive government information, liberal democrats are calling to ban the use of these devices in government offices. Details of the government’s Gateway website were among the files that the non secure USB flash drive included. Today it is website information – who’s to say what information will be lost tomorrow? The ease of moving information from one place to another in today’s technological world is frightening.

Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary for Transport Norman Baker MP added that the Government was asking for information from taxpayers that they could not protect. Baker went on to say that the government keeps collecting information that it cannot be trusted with. Government employees are trusted with security clearance, databases, and ID cards, but they cannot be trusted with information. Data losses are becoming a routine occurrence. USB encryption is definitely a viable solution.

Regional Sales Manager, Jason Holloway added that it is important for organizations to realize what levels of acceptable risk they will allow and what reasonable level of security standards. If data is confidential then it makes perfect sense to protect it. He also stated that many errors could be avoided, and there needs to be a clear and logical set of steps that staff is aware of, thus making them also aware of the penalties of those who don’t follow the guidelines.

As the need for securing data increases, USB encryption devices are becoming more popular among corporations as the only solution that fits the practical use of transferring data with the substantial need to keep a data secure work environment. Workers are constantly in need of moving data from A to B, and doing so securely is a major issue in the corporate and government arena.

With the financial market at risk, companies and government agencies simply cannot afford to compromise sensitive data. SanDisk USB encryption drives have the capability and capacity to protect sensitive data that needs to be mobile and accessible. With SanDisk’s Central Management and Control (CMC) software, remote termination is always a valuable last resort for the secure USB drive.
