I think the time has come for overweight to start pulling their weight a bit more. There are so many problems associated with obessity. We go after smokers by taxing the hell out of their habit why do overweight people get a free ride? And please dont tell me that they cant help it. Poor eating habits is a learned behavior that they choose not to change. I am not a smoker or overweight. I work a full time job as does my wife but we still manage to provide a decent and wholesome meal for our kids every day. Dont tell me some poor unfortunate people cant afford to cook healthy. Because there are just as many middle and upper class overweight people too. This is not ment to offend anyone only provide intellingent conversation.

They do pay more. The insurance companies a ask your weight or if you have a history of obesity in your family on the application.

Seriously, how is the united states supposed to keep track of all of the overweight people……seriously……and if that is the case why not start charging the anorexic, the bulimics, the poor, the homeless….etc……see people tax the smokers cause they can cause 2nd hand smoking…..and also cancer, all types of cancer……..plus if we charge overweight people for their problems does that mean that we can charge those diabetics, anemics, handicapped, elderly, and etc……seriously think about it……Just cause you healty doesnt mean anything…..you can be healthy and suddenly die…..so the question should be really be why doesnt the US first take care of itself……and then worry about the others……dont we got homeless, did we have a natural disaster, werent we attacked and lost thousands, arent our elderly going into canada to buy medicines….why waste so much money on war fare when we can be putting that money into something better like the future of the USA.

as far as life insurance is concerned, overweight people, smokers, people with health problems do pay more for their coverage than others.

Following your logic, then it follows that tax payers without children should not have to pay taxes which support schools or school lunch programs.
Handicapped people should have to pay an extra tax to put in handicap accessible amenities in public places. In fact, we should fine anyone with a handicap sticker on their car $500.00 for parking in non-handicap parking spaces. That would be fair…
Heck, lets just shoot old people because they are only waiting to die anyway. We could make a special hunting season in the spring, and the government can rake in the cash for selling “Geezer tags.”
