Hidden Object Games: Not Just For Kids

Alan King asked:

Have you ever wondered why people play games on their computer? Have you seen or heard people talking about hidden object games and wondered why do they bother? After all, aren’t hidden object games for kids? You probably have given your own kids hidden object games to keep them busy in the car or at the doctor’s office. Why on earth would you want to play kiddy games on the computer? Better yet, why would you waste your time and money playing them? I will give you one good reason. They are fun and challenging. Okay, so that is two but who’s counting.

The hidden object games you find online are not the games your kids play. The online games are complex story lines filled with challenging scenarios. The crime scene games have you using tools to find objects, and the matching is unlike anything you will see in a children’s game. The exploration games have you searching for rare items in places you may not have been aware existed. On top of strange places, the exploration games will broaden your vocabulary with words like Anubis. In some games, the hidden objects are so well disguised that grown adults will be tempted to ask for a hint.

The enjoyment and satisfaction you receive from playing hidden object games may surprise you. I know. You are thinking, “It is just clicking objects they hid. How could that possibly be satisfying?” Frankly, you get a rush from finding that object that is really well hidden. When the time is ticking down and you have one item left to find, your heart starts to race. Your mind starts to panic. You start worrying if you will find it in time. Then, just as the time is about to run out, you spot it! The simple pleasure of finding that last item will make you smile every time.

The best reason to play is to get a well deserved break from your day. It doesn’t take a lot of time or dedication to play hidden object games. Some games require you to dedicate tons of time to accomplish anything, but not hidden object games. You can play a quick game while the kids nap, waiting on dinner, or to relax a bit before bed. I wouldn’t exactly recommend playing before going to bed. If you do, you may find yourself up way past your bedtime trying to solve just one more puzzle.
